Ski Binding Brake Width Guide

Ski Binding Size Guide

Ski binding brake width is determined by your ski’s
waist width, measured in millimeters. As a general
guideline, choose a brake width equal to or up to
15 mm wider than your ski’s waist width, subject
to manufacturer compatibility.

Binding Size (mm) 85 95 110 130
Ski Waist Width (mm) 70–85 80–95 95–110 115–130

85 mm
Ski waist: 70–85 mm
95 mm
Ski waist: 80–95 mm
110 mm
Ski waist: 95–110 mm
130 mm
Ski waist: 115–130 mm

These ranges are general guidelines for the
listed brake sizes. Actual clearance and
compatibility depend on the ski and binding model.

Where do I find my ski waist width?

Look for three measurements on your ski, typically
written as tip / waist / tail. For example,
128/90/115 means the ski is 90 mm wide underfoot.
A 95 mm brake may be appropriate if compatible
with your exact binding and ski.

DIN Setting Guide

DIN refers to the binding’s release-value setting.
The correct setting depends on several factors
and must be determined and verified by a qualified
ski binding technician.

Skier Information

Weight, height, age and skier type
are considered when determining the
appropriate release setting.

Boot Information

Boot sole length, boot sole standard
and compatibility with the binding
must be checked.

Professional Adjustment

A technician must adjust the binding
and verify its release performance
using the actual ski boots.

A skier’s weight alone cannot determine a safe
DIN setting. Do not use a general weight chart
as instructions for adjusting your bindings.

Important Notice

Ski bindings should be mounted, adjusted,
and release-tested by a qualified ski technician.
GetBoards can perform the initial mount using
the boot sole length you provide, but the actual
boots must be used for final fit, adjustment,
and release verification before skiing.

Marker Baron EPF 13 S Alpine Ski Bindings 2022

Available Brake Sizes: 110mm.

With a DIN setting up to 13, the Baron has earned its stripes as a favorite amongst big mountain, backcountry enthusiasts who look for a binding with a walking option and climbing aid. As part of the update of the Royal Family, the Baron with Extended Power Frame (EPF) now comes with new Triple Pivot toe and Interpivot 3 freeride heel for improved power transmission and edge grip. Its extra-wide connection to the ski gives it the structure needed to power today’s wider skis through any snow conditions. The new Anti Ice Rail is useful for scraping snow and ice off the boot sole. The Baron 13 EPF also comes with Sole.ID to fit alpine, touring and GripWalk boots.

Features

  • ANTI ICE RAIL: Use the metal rail to scratch off ice and snow below your boot sole.

  • HOLLOW TECH: Our fiber-reinforced frame base plate provides impressive riding stability and is yet very light due to the gas injected hollow construction.

  • EPF – EXTENDED POWER FRAME: The power booster. The power frame delivers breath-taking performance and amazing power transfer in every condition. Recommended for skis over 88 mm.

  • CLIMBING AIDS FRAME TOUR: The climbing aid offers two positions with 7° and 13° which can easily be accessed with the ski pole, even in an unstable standing position. Integrated elastomer paddings dampen the impact reducing the irritating traditional “clack” and allow more comfortable hiking.

  • TRIPLE PIVOT ELITE TOE: The toe construction with DIN/ISO up to Z 18 allows for impressive retention when freeriding. The spring in the toe is inserted horizontally and with a sole plate inclined by 5° it provides the higher energy absorption so as to reduce the risk of early release. The large supporting surface optimizes the power transmission and allows for great stresses and strains. In relation to their weight, toes with this technology therefore achieve a never-seen-before performance.

  • SOLE.ID: Height-adjustable gliding plate to be compatible with alpine (ISO 5355), touring (ISO 9523) and GripWalk soles. Easy to adjust: pozi screw at the front to adjust height of gliding plate.

  • Weight: 1390 g

  • Size: S: 265 – 325 mm
  • Din/ISO Range: 4.0 – 13.0
  • Recom. Skier’s Weight: <120 kg
